D family birth photography

I must be drawn to women who do not labor for long!  This super-mamma delivered her son IN triage!  They didnt even have time to move her to a room!  Luckily, she was the only one in triage, so it wasnt an issue!  The raw, painful beauty that these images inspire seriously make me want to cry.  I feel so lucky to be a part of every one of these mothers birth stories, and this one was no exception!

J&K Engagement photos

Oh, Em, Gee.  I seriously get goosbumps whenever I look at these photos!  I LOVED this session!  I loved every tiny detail about it!  Oh, and this gorgeous couple was super nice too!  Thats always the icing on the cake!  Did I mention that I LOVE these pics?

Well, this was one birth that was not expected to be a c-section!  But I love going into c-sections because I suddenly feel like I'm in an episode of Greys Anatomy (I love that show!).  This was such an amazing session!  Mom and dad were such champs, and the doctors were so great!  Seriously, Dr. Harter is among the best!

M 6 month photos

This little man was such a happy boy!  I LOVED our shoot at The Smith Center, and his little suit made him look like such a little man!  This first photo I have had people not believe that it was shot this way in front of this building.  That I imported the background, if you will.  They firmly believe that it is a product of photoshop.  I am here to tell you, the only thing I photoshopped (other than coloring edits) was a couple walking in the background (I took them out), and I photoshopped mom out of the picture.  As always, safety is my first concern, and since little M was not a solid sitter yet, mom was sitting right next to him to catch him if he tipped.  I love the results!

Z Family Birth Photos

I loved this birth session!  The only thing that could have made it better is if I had actually made it in time for the birth!  I ran in no more than 3 minutes after she was born!  Mamma was so fast she delivered about 30 minutes after arriving to the hospital, which coincidentally is how long it takes to get to the hospital from where I live!  lol.  I swear, sometimes I seriously just consider living with the family in the week leading up to their due date!  haha!  I seriously get chills whenever I look at these pictures!  I LOVE what I do!  *side note.  I do compress my images to avoid copywrite infringment.  Its sad that is our first concern and that we have to take steps to avoid it, but if you notice that the images lack sharp detail when zooming in, that is why.*

This is one of my favorites!

Look at this little baby bird!  She is just so beautiful, and this picture just cracks me up!  FEED ME!

Creative lighting anyone can do

This sweet boy seriously melts my heart every day.  Here he is clutching his beloved "Teddy" while he sleeps.  I could just stare all day.  Which is why we need to document these sweet moments., so that years down the road, we can still stare at their perfect little forms as they sleep.  When he's 16, and drooling while he farts in his sleep (not quite as heart melting as these sweet moments) we can break out these little moments and relive them.
So simple too.  I used my iPhones flashlight on medium strength, and propped it up near his head shining down his body.  If you have a point and shoot, just make sure the flash is off, and try to make sure the camera is as stable as you can get it.  If you have a DSLR, meter for the lighted areas.  My camera was set at SS: 1/15  F-stop:1.8  ISO:800

M family C-Section Birth Photography

This is one of my favorite shoots!  It was my first C-Section, and I just couldnt be happier with the results!

I love this next photo because this was as they were pulling the baby out and you could hear the baby starting to cry.  The glistening tear of all that overflowing emotion just makes this photo perfect in my eyes!
